THE SHOW

 

- You tour the world: what language do you perform in?

English only.  However, the performers are used to hearing people translate quietly to non-English speaking members of their party throughout the performance.

 

- Am I allowed to film or photograph?

You may photograph the show as long as you don't move around the floor (which, after all, is a stage!), but you may not film.

- Can I book a private show, or take over one of your public performances?

- i've already seen the show once.  Will it be the same if I make a return visit?

One third of the performance is scripted, but the other two thirds is improvised around the audience, so it's always a fresh experience.  Many of our audience members have enjoyed the show multiple times or in multiple locations (and we'd love to hear from you if you think you hold the record for most visits!).

 

- This is a two-hour show. Is there an interval for bathroom breaks, say, or to go to the bar?

No.  It's a two-hour show but it's site-specific in a restaurant environment (whether that's in a theatre, arts centre, hotel or not), so you can get up at any time you like.  However, a third of the show is scripted, so it's best to get up only at the end of individual courses.

 

For drinks service, it's best to order enough before the show to be delivered to your table through the show.  However, there are opportunities to order drinks during the show, eg after the main course. All drinks are table service only.

 

- Should we wear old clothes? (or 'will the food end up on us?')

No part of the show features anyone intentionally spilling anything on anyone else.  There have been spillages over the years, but more often by the venue waiting staff than the actors.  All the actors respect people's personal belongings.

 

- Is it suitable for children and is there a children's price?

Children under the age of 3 attend free of charge. They will not be provided a meal, so you would need to bring appropriate food for them. 3-5 year olds, and school-age children are eligible for the 'student' prices. All ages have attended and enjoy the show.

 

- How many in the audience?

80-120, with plenty of room for actors and guests to move around (Edinburgh is an exception: space is tight).

 

- When do doors open?

We ask that you arrive half an hour before the show starts.  This is so that you can show your e-ticket confirmations and go to the pre-show reception area, where you can also order drinks for the show.  In London, go to the main reception and follow the signs.

 

- Any special requests?

If you or one of your party is celebrating something and you wants us to give them a special mention, surprise, or otherwise, let us know.  There is a section in the e-tickets booking form for you to tell us this.  If you have missed this section in the booking process, you can fill in our 'special diets and requests' form HERE, or alternatively you can send us an email, and the information will be added to your booking:  customerservice@imagination-workshop.com

 

- What's on the menu?

It's a set menu, always featuring a soup, a main (probably chicken), and a dessert. 

It will always be good quality, but you should remember that it's a prop to the show - not the other way round!

 

- Are special diets catered for?

Yes. Just let us know before or on the night - there's a section after checkout of the online booking process that allows you to make a note.  If you have missed this section in the booking process, you can fill in our 'special diets and requests' form HERE, or alternatively you can send us an email, and the information will be added to your booking:  customerservice@imagination-workshop.com

 

- Do the shows have disabled access?

It depends on the venue. The Torquay Suite Theatre in London West End, for instance, has excellent wheelchair access, but B'est Restaurant at Edinburgh Fringe doesn't.  It's best to check with the venue that's relevant to you.

 

The show itself is highly interactive and is performed by actors who project very well, so it's ok for people who are hard of hearing or blind.  However, it is not suitable for people who can only lip-read and it is not signed, so in those instances it is best to have a member of your party sign.

 

 

BUYING TICKETS

 

- What are the Terms and Conditions of purchasing a ticket?

- Am I eligible for a concession price ticket?
You are eligible for a concession price ticket (when advertised) if you can provide a valid Over-60s or Veterans card, or a valid Student card (any performance of the week where concession is offered).  One concession card = one concession ticket.  If a valid card is not presented at the venue on arrival for the performance, the balance will need to be paid before you can be admitted to the performance.  Concession tickets can ONLY be purchased online.

 

- Can I get a group discount?

 For performances at Amba Hotel Charing Cross and Kingsway Hall Hotel, groups of 10+ get one ticket free for every 10 purchased (ie 11 tickets for the price of 10). Groups can hold tickets and pay later subject to availability. No refunds or exchanges. Payment available only through Simpletix booking system (via www.torquaysuitetheatre.com or www.interactivetheatre.com.au/theweddingreception) - look for the section: Group Booking - 11 tickets for the price of 10.

- I bought my e-tickets online,but when I got my PayPal receipt, it said "postage & packaging" had been charged. Are my tickets being posted?

No, your tickets are e-tickets, and they are not posted. At check-out of the booking process you will see a service charge added. This is to cover the PayPal and SimpleTix commissions that are paid for using the service. Unfortunately, when this amount shows up on the PayPal receipt, it is called "postage & packaging". At this stage, we have been unsuccessful in having the wording on the receipt changed.

 

- Can I reserve now and pay later?

No. Seats are only confirmed if paid in full.  No refunds.

 

- Can groups sit together?

Yes.  There's a section within e-tickets that allows you to note who you want to sit with, or in whose name the group is booked.

- Are the seats reserved?

They're reserved in the sense that if you've bought a ticket you'll get in, but you don't have a reserved seat number: we draw up the seating plan.  We keep parties together.

 

 

AMBA HOTEL CHARING CROSS, LONDON

 

- Can I buy tickets at the London venue?

Yes. Tickets are available from the Concierge desk Monday - Friday until 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday until noon.  Tickets are available from the Faulty Towers reception desk on Level 1 Thursday- Friday from 6pm - 11pm, and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 11pm.  Tickets purchased at the venue can only be paid for in cash, not credit card.

 

- Is there parking at the venue?
